In the year 2058, the human colony planet Claird, which is over 40 light years away from Earth, is suddenly attacked by alien forces known as the Astrogaters. The surviving colonists and soldiers escape to a space station in orbit, but in the chaos, some of the children are separated from their families. Thanks to the weapons system aboard their ship, the Jainus, the children arrive at Berwick, another human colonized planet in the same solar system, only to discover it has already shared the same fate as Claird. With no more adults to guide them, the children make the decision to learn how to pilot the VIFAM weapons system and other mecha, in an effort to escape back to Earth on their own...
